Audience evaluations, Seattle WA

“Jimmy’s Getting Better” tells the poignant story of a young boy impacted by childhood lead poisoning. Since its Minneapolis premiere in April of 2000, this play has touched the lives of thousands across the country, from Seattle to Detroit. The play is now available to interested communities in two versions:

1. MIDDLE/HIGH SCHOOL (ages 10-17): This version, developed in association with Seattle’s Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center, is performed by youth, for youth. Beginning January 2004, a service-learning companion curriculum will be available to classrooms who view performances of the show.

2. ADULTS: This version, developed in Minneapolis by CLEARCorps/Minnesota through interviews with families and service workers in the lead field, focuses on socioeconomic factors. It has been particularly effective in bringing the issue of lead to those working in related fields, from housing to public health, as well as legislators.
