Policy & Advocacy

A critical component of making housing safe for children and families is making sure that codes, laws and policies exist to clearly outline the standards required for safety. CLEARCorps plays a crucial role in providing information, resources and guidance to policy makers. Since our inception, we have listened closely to those impacted and we have worked with law makers, politicians, and broad-based coalitions to write codes, and draft and pass protective legislation; all the while, raising awareness about lead poisoning and other home health protection issues.

A few examples of our work are:

* Model legislation passed in Michigan to protect children from lead
* Convened on-going coalition to advise lawmakers on the lead in toys issues
